Alpha Sigma Lambda National Honor Society
The Alpha Sigma Lambda National Honor Society was established in 1945-46 to honor students in Continuing Higher Education for superior scholarship and leadership. There are nearly 300 institutional chapters throughout the United States. Alpha Sigma Lambda is devoted to the advancement of scholarship and to the recognition of Continuing Education students who accomplish academic excellence while managing competing responsibilities at home, work and in their communities.
Sigma Sigma Chi is the local chapter of the Alpha Sigma Lambda National Honor Society at Salem State College. Membership in Sigma Sigma Chi is by invitation only. To be eligible for membership, students must satisfy the following criteria:
- Be matriculated in an undergraduate Continuing Education degree program at Salem State College
- Have a minimum of forty-eight (48) cumulative credits, twenty-four (24) of which must be graded Salem State College credits
- Have at least twelve (12) credits earned in courses in Liberal Arts/Sciences
- Have a minimum grade point average of 3.2
Members are then selected from the top 10% of the students satisfying the aforementioned criteria. Members must either be currently enrolled in at least one Continuing Education course or have completed at least one Continuing Education course during the previous semester.
