Adult Learner Orientation

Adult Learner Orientation is a one-day program for first year DAY students who are 23 years of age and older. This program is NOT for transfer students; there is a separate Transfer Orientation.

You will participate in activities to prepare you for your academic program at SSC, and will:

• receive your official course schedule
• meet with a representative from your major
• learn about college programs and services for adult learners
• take a campus tour
• hear from adult students currently enrolled at SSC
• speak with Student Employment and Financial Aid
• get your parking decal

Testing

In addition to Orientation, all first year students must participate in a Testing program to determine skill development needs, competency levels and exemption from courses. Test results do not affect the condition of your acceptance; they assist us in placing you into the appropriate courses and defining the appropriate support services to allow you to develop your full academic potential. There are three components to the testing:

• Computer Literacy Test
• Writing Sample
• Accuplacer Online
