Theatre performance

Salem State Theatre produces works for the 700 seat Mainstage Auditorium, as well as inside the intimate black-box style, 90-seat Callan Studio Theatre. In addition to four major performances in the academic year, often including a major musical, the department also includes Summer Theatre at Salem, the professional troupe in summer residency. Summer Theatre produces an additional three shows in June and July. Great performances at Salem State have included Children of a Lesser God, BatBoy: The Musical, Guys & Dolls, Taming of the Shrew, Follies, A Doll's House, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, The Tempest, Ten November and more!
