MINIMUM RENEWAL REQUIREMENTS FOR
ALL PRESIDENTIAL ARTS SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS
1. All Presidential Arts Scholars MUST be enrolled as full time students
with a major or, where applicable, a minor in the discipline in which
he/she presently has a Presidential Arts Scholarship.
2. All Presidential Arts Scholars MUST maintain a 3.0 grade point
average in his/her field of study.
3. All Presidential Arts Scholars MUST meet with his/her faculty
advisor and/or faculty review committee within his/her department
to determine goals for the upcoming semester.
4. All Presidential Arts Scholars will submit a self-evaluation stating
his/her contributions and personal growth as a Presidential Arts
Scholar. This self-evaluation will be included with the renewal
application submitted to the Director of the Center for Creative
and Performing Arts no later than February 1.
5. All Presidential Arts Scholars will be reviewed by their department
and a recommendation for renewal of the Presidential Arts
Scholarship will be made by the department chairperson. This
recommendation must be included with the reapplication request
submitted to the Director of the Center for Creative and Performing
Arts no later than February 1.
In addition to the criteria stated above, each discipline will determine specific
criteria for Presidential Arts Scholars in their area of expertise. These criteria are listed below. All Presidential

RECIPIENTS IN FINE ARTS
1. The recipient MUST maintain a MINIMUM of four (4) hours per week in department support functions. These functions will be involved in, but not limited to, the recipient’s major concentration or area of specialization.
2. The recipient MUST demonstrate outstanding creativity and artistic quality in their studio or research work. The faculty review committee requests faculty recommendations, and art portfolios or research in support of this criterion. See chairperson of the Art Department for information.
3. The recipient MUST exhibit in the Student Awards Show if appropriate
to his/her Concentration in the Art Major.
New Art Major Applicants to the Presidential Arts Scholarship
1. Applicants in the studio areas must provide a ten-piece portfolio and
present evidence of this to the chairperson of the Art Department for
evaluation.
2. Applicants in the Art History Concentration must provide research as
demonstrated by written scholarship and present evidence of this to
the chairperson of the Art Department for evaluation.
3. Applicants in the Art Education Concentration must provide either a
ten-piece portfolio or research as demonstrated by written scholarship
and present evidence of this to the chairperson of the Art Department
for evaluation.
Renewals
1. Renewal applicants in the studio areas must provide a ten-piece portfolio
of new work and present this to the chairperson of the Art Department
for evaluation.
2. Renewal applicants in the Art History Concentration must provide new
research as demonstrated by written scholarship and present this to
the chairperson of the Art Department for evaluation.
3. Renewal applicants in the Art Education Concentration must provide
either a ten-piece portfolio of new work or new research as demonstrated
by written scholarship and present this to the chairperson of the Art
Department for evaluation.
