Building a Global Bookshelf in Your Classroom

To implement goals for the United Nations Literacy Decade (UNLD, 2003-2012) the Northeast Global Education Center at Salem State University continues to offer the Global Bookshelf project in schools for teachers and children from Kindergarten to Grade Six.  The Global Bookshelf project supports the UNLD initiative to promote global literacy skills and to enhance intercultural sensitivity.  All participating schools receive books to build a Global Bookshelf in their classrooms.  Books for the project are selected and funded by the Northeast Global Education Center.

Houses Around the World

The Northeast Global Education Center proudly presents the latest work of Giles Laroche, available this fall as an example of new directions for the Global Bookshelf. Giles Laroche, an accomplished author and illustrator, will take us on an architectural journey around the globe with his newest work, Houses Around the World, in an engaging professional development workshop. All educators and interested community members are welcome to attend to learn how to implement the project in their schools.
