Deadlines:

Fall 2012 (Freshman and Transfer): June 1, 2012

 

Freshman International Students

The student must have the equivalent of a U.S. secondary school diploma or must have attained that level at the time of entrance to Salem State University.

Applicants must submit:

1. Application for admission completed online and an application fee of $40 (U.S. Funds). Access the online application here.

2. Bank Statement(s) and/or other financial documents. Day students must demonstrate funds available in the amount of $23,000. Evening students must demonstrate funds available in the amount of $15,000. A sponser letter will also be required if the funds available are not in the student's name.

3. Secondary School (High School) transcript or diploma (translated).*

4. School examination results (if applicable).*

5. The Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) is required of all freshman international applicants. For information regarding registration and test dates, visit The College Board Website.  Please note that it can take 4-6 weeks to receive official scores after the test date.

6. The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) results is required of all applicants whose native language is not English. A minimum score of five hundred (500) on the written or one hundred seventy-three (173) on the computer-based, and sixty-one (61) on the internet based is recommended. For information regarding registration and test dates, visit the TOEFL section of The College Board Website. Or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) results with a minimum score of 5.5.

7. Copy of valid passport.

* All transcripts must be submitted with a translated and notarized copy.

Transfer International Students

If the student has completed college or university-level coursework in another country, the transcript(s) must be evaluated from a professional evaluation service, for example, The Center for Educational Documentation or World Education Services.

Applicants must submit:

1. Application for admission completed online and an application fee of $40 (U.S. Funds). Access the online application here.

2. Bank Statement(s) and/or other financial documents. Day students must demonstrate funds available in the amount of $23,000. Evening students must demonstrate funds available in the amount of $15,000. A sponser letter will also be required if the funds available are not in the student's name.

3. All post-secondary school transcripts, i.e., college and university work. Transcripts from international institutions with college level work require  a course-by-course evaluation from a professional evaluation service, for example, The Center for Educational Documentation or World Education Services.

4. The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) results is required of all applicants whose native language is not English. A minimum score of five hundred (500) on the written or one hundred seventy-three (173) on the computer-based, and sixty-one (61) on the internet based is recommended. 5. International transfer applicants should also submit a copy of their old I-20 (if they have previously attended another institution in the United States).

6. Copy of valid passport and visa page.
