International Student Admissions and Requirements
Freshman International Students:
The student must have the equivalent of a U.S. secondary school diploma or must have attained that level at the time of entrance to the college.
Applicants must submit:
1. Application for admission completed online and an application fee of $30 (U.S. Funds). If unable to complete an online application, please email admissions@salemstate.edu.
2. Certification of Finance statement on form supplied by the College.
3. An official High School transcript.*
4. An official Secondary School transcript.*
5. School examination results.*
6. The Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) is required of all freshman international applicants. February is the last test date for which an applicant could register so that the scores will reach the Admissions Office in time for evaluation. For information regarding registration and test dates, visit The College Board Web site.
7. The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) results is required of all applicants whose native language is not English. A minimum score of five hundred (500) on the written or one hundred seventy-three (173) on the computer-based, and sixty-one (61) on the internet based is recommended. For information regarding registration and test dates, visit the TOEFL section of The College Board Web site.
* All transcripts must be submitted with a translated and notarized copy.
Transfer International Students:
If the student has completed college or university-level coursework in another country, the transcript(s) must be evaluated from a professional evaluation service, for example, The Center for Educational Documentation or World Education Services.
Applicants must submit:

3. All Post-Secondary School transcripts, i.e., college and university work. Transcripts from international institutions may require evaluation from a professional evaluation service, for example, The Center for Educational Documentation or World Education Services.

5. International Transfer applicants should also submit a copy of their old I-20 (if they have previously attended another institution in the United States).
