Taking the MAT at Salem State

Salem State University offers the computer-based Miller Analogies Test at our location. Students planning to apply to graduate school should contact the institutions to which they are applying to find out individual test requirements for admission. The MAT consists of 120 analogies that must be completed in 60 minutes.

In order to be admitted for testing, each candidate must take two forms of non-expired positive identification to the testing center, one of which must include a photograph and signature, such as a driver's license, school ID card, or a government-issued ID card or passport. A second form of positive identification may include a credit card (with or without a photograph), library card, or a utility bill with your name and address appearing exactly the same as on your other form of identification.

Candidates who have tested within the last 12 months must present an MAT Retest Admission Ticket in order to be permitted to sit for the retake.

The Miller Analogies website contains the most current and complete information about the Miller Analogies Test (MAT). It includes information about applying to take the test, the contents of the test, and what happens after you have taken the test. The website also includes strategies for solving analogies, sample items, and a practice test to help test-takers prepare for the MAT.
