Teacher Test Preparation Center

The MTEL Center has moved to 35 Loring Avenue!

The new location is the house between the Horace Mann School and Bowditch Hall (formerly the admissions house). We are in the back left corner of the house.

The center offers practice tests for the Massachusetts Test for Educator Licensure (MTEL) as well as materials for reinforcing literacy and mathematics skills and content knowledge. There are also diagnostic services and tutoring for many of the tests, as well as general information about the various state tests.

Tutoring is available free of charge for MATRICULATED Salem State students and alumni. The MTEL Center hours for the SPRING 2012 semester are as follows (subject to change). During these times, you may stop by to get MTEL information, as well as to pick up practice MTEL tests, MTEL information and MTEL test preparation materials.

Tutoring is available during the times listed below BY APPOINTMENT for Communication/Literacy and Foundations of Reading.

 

Monday	3–7:30 pm
Tuesdays	9 am–2 pm  and  3–6:30 pm
Wednesdays	2–5 pm
Thursdays	9 am–1 pm  and  3:30–7 pm
Fridays	12:30–6 pm

PLEASE NOTE: At this time, the workshops listed above are the only workshop topics available. For other subject test help (e.g., English, history, sciences), please refer to the appropriate academic department for preparation assistance. The student must register for the test on their own.

MTEL PREP WORKSHOP SCHEDULE

Spring 2012 (Prepare for the March 3 and May 12, 2012 MTEL Tests). Registration deadlines are listed on the registration form. Workshops are held on Saturdays.

• There is no discount for attending fewer sessions
• Cost for MATRICULATED Salem State students (with student ID) and alumni is $100
• The cost for non-Salem State students is $150
• Pre-registration is required. See registration deadlines for each workshop on the MTEL REGISTRATION FORM (PDF) Registration

To register online: Go to navigator.salemstate.edu. If you have never registered online for a course at Salem State, go to First Time Self-Service for non-degree students and set up your Navigator account. You may then register for your selected course. (Visa is not accepted. Visa debit cards and all other credit cards, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express are accepted).

To register in person: Visit the registrar's office in the Administration Building on North Campus. (Check or credit card. Visa credit card excluded. All other credit cards and Visa debit cards are accepted.) When registering in person, you will be directed to the payment kiosks by a member of the registrar's office.
