Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Technology in Education

Learn how to integrate computer technology with instruction through our Technology in Education program.

Our students have a variety of backgrounds and career goals.  Educators learn how to use technology to improve instruction and are prepared to become instructional technology specialists, school and district technology coordinators, and more.

Our classes increasingly include students with backgrounds in nursing, business, and human services. We show business professionals how to use new technology in making presentations and teach nurses how to better train other nurses.

Program Highlights

  • Courses offered on-campus, completely online, and in web-enhanced formats.  The online program consists of the same courses as the on-campus program, and all courses are taught by the same faculty.
  • Accredited and consistent with ISTE standards.
  • Educators can choose between licensure and master's only tracks.

Educator Licensure

Educators generally work toward one of two outcomes: (1) an M.Ed. degree and licensure as an instructional technology specialist, or (2) just the master's degree.

If you are an educator, examine your professional requirements and goals when choosing between the licensure or master's degree only tracks.  If you enroll in the licensure track, you need to complete pre-practica hours and a practicum course.  All students, regardless of track, submit a portfolio.

  • Visit the Office of Licensure and Field Placement for licensure and fieldwork questions.

Resources

You will have educational and professional development resources at your fingertips to help you achieve your own career goals.  Participate in special projects and take advantage of resources.  Choose from a variety of fieldwork experiences.  Select one of the 50 communities with whom we have relationships or partner with one of our four laboratory schools, each of which features a different theme.
