Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) in Middle School General Science

This 36-credit program is designed for those wishing to prepare for initial licensure as a teacher in interdisciplinary general science (Grades 5-8) or seeking to enhance their knowledge of science or science teaching.  Salem State only endorses students in this program for the initial license in general science.  However, experienced teachers who otherwise meet the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education's criteria for professional licensure may elect to use this degree program to apply on their own to the MDESE for professional license.
