Departmental name change: Department of World Languages
The Department of Foreign Languages was approved to change its name to "Department of World Languages" effective August 2010. The name change was requested to reflect the concept that the languages we teach are not always "foreign". Many Americans speak second languages at home, such as Spanish, French, Italian and Arabic. The new name also represents the growing diversity of languages the Department offers, which are languages spoken in North America, South America, Africa, the Middle East, Europe and Asia.
