Geography Dept Wins Historic Preservation Award

President Meservey, Jen Sumael and Professor Luna receiving Hawthorne Award

As part of Historc Preservation Month, Salem's Hawthorne Hotel awarded the Friends of Salem Woods and Salem State College the Historic Preservation Award for work done to preserve Salem Woods.  In the spring of 2007, Biology professor Alan Young, Geography professor Marcos Luna and M.S.GIS graduate student Jennifer Sumael remapped the Salem Woods trails and produced a new trail map which the Friends of Salem Woods now distribute to the public.  Salem State President Patricia Meservey, Assistant Professor Marcos Luna, and graduate student Jennifer Sumael attended the ceremony to recieve the award on behalf of the College.  Congratulations!
