The Collaborative Project for Mathematics, Science and Interdisciplinary Studies

An organization of professional teachers and administrators committed to the enhancement of grade K - 12 mathematics and science education in this region of Massachusetts with partial support from Salem State College, the Massachusetts Department of Education and the corporate sector. We do not get any support from the DOE. Partial support is provided by Salem State College, member schools and districts, and by the corporate sector.

The Collaborative Project is a cooperative venture among more than 1000 individuals with representation from schools, colleges, businesses, and industries, centered on the North Shore of Boston. The goal of this alliance of member schools and school districts with a student population of over 62,000 is to make schools more competitive in mathematics, science and technology education.

Since 1983, the Collaborative Project has produced a variety of high quality events including all-day courses, after-school teacher group meetings/seminars/workshops, a telecommunication network, the annual Women in Science and Engineering Conference (WISE) for girls in grades 6-8, the annual AP Practice Exams in Calculus, Statistics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics, teacher sharing conferences, and local curriculum development sessions.

Additionally, science and technology equipment has been purchased for districts to field test advances in mathematics and science education. This equipment can be borrowed by a district for two week periods. We hold to extremely high standards in selecting workshop presenters, they are screened by teacher group leaders and by the Collaborative Project staff to get the best possible talent for the topics you have requested.

A full day workshop costs a teacher $35 which includes breakfast and lunch. Workshops are postponed if the location of the workshop has no school that day or if there is inclement weather at the time of the workshop.
