Occupational Therapy Admissions Policy

1. Educational Requirements:

  • Associate's degree in occupational therapy from an accredited institution with certification as an occupational therapy assistant (COTA)
  • GPA that reflects a high level of academic achievement

2. Work-Related Experience:

  • One year of clinical experience prior to taking professional development courses is recommended
  • Candidates must maintain certification and/or licensure while enrolled in the program, and must submit a copy of credentials to the Admissions Office
  • One letter of recommendation from a current or past employer

3. Completion of Salem State College's general education, distribution, lecture, support courses, and any other competencies required for a bachelor of science degree prior to beginning the professional course work in the occupational therapy major
