Facilities

Four study rooms (CC234, CC235, CC239, CC245) that accommodate up to six students, and are ideal for working on group projects. Available to all business students. Please check with the business office for access (CC255).

The Thomas M. '68 & Joan M. Feeley Accounting Lab, CC115, features 12 Dell computers with networked printing. We have Quickbooks installed for your classwork.

The schedule of the Business/Accounting Lab
8 am - 8 pm Monday through Thursday, and 8 am - 4 pm Friday
We have accounting and finance tutors available to our students during those hours.

In addition, there is an ODS tutor in the lab, the schedule is:
Monday 3:30-6:30 pm, Tuesday 2:30-8 pm, Wednesday 3:30-8 pm, Friday 10 am-2 pm.

A general computing lab, CC154, equipped with Dell computers with networked laser printing. See lab schedule for hours.

Ten smart classrooms with a differing range of capabilities. Among the technologies featured are SmartBoards, Plasma TVs, projector screens, Sympodium touch screen monitors, and document cameras. Some rooms accommodate multi-point conferencing. Featured are the Walter A. & Sally A. Cuffe and the Nicholas & Alice Xanthaky classrooms.

Associations

The Accounting Association encourages professional interest among students preparing for careers in business administration, and offers programs geared toward accounting.

The Finance Association's objective is to bridge the gap between academic and professional life for students seeking career paths in the finance world. The reins of the association are in the hands of elected student officers. Students organize club activities which include trivia, discussion/debates, field trips, etc. A faculty member from the Accounting and Finance Department helps out as advisor in all maters. The  Finance Association strives to help students in developing the skills such as leadership, communications, public speaking and wider awareness of the field to succeed after graduation. Students wanting to join the club please contact Dr. Sanjay Kudrimoti for further details.

The American Marketing Association holds job fairs and a career day, as well as workshops on resume writing, interviewing techniques, letter writing, and dressing for industry. It also connects members of the Salem State business community with the professional chapter through seminars, dinners and conferences. Salem State University Micro-lending Club

Salem State Micro-lending Club is to provide collateralized loans to low- income entrepreneurs in Essex County.  The loans will help individuals improve their circumstances and build the local economy. Students involved in the club will help choose loan recipients, administer the loans, and provide business-related advice to program participants. (View Flyer)

  • Attend club meetings at SSC and the various CDC’s.
  • Help recipients refine their business plans
  • Facilitate team meetings (The recipients will work together as a team to share ideas about running a business, shouldering the responsibility of a business loan, and broader relevant social issues like breaking the cycle of poverty).

Peer Mentoring

The Bertolon School of Business now provides peer mentoring for all business students. Upperclass business students are available throughout the advising period to provide pre-advising, help with scheduling and assistance with other student-related issues.
