Early Childhood Education Concentration
The early childhood education concentration prepares students to teach children in grades ranging from pre-kindergarten through second grade.
Salem State's early childhood education concentration offers both licensure (necessary for those planning to teach in a public school system) and non-licensure programs. Non-licensed professionals can only teach outside public school settings, in child care centers and community programs, for example.
Students in either education concentration must apply for admission to our licensure programs, and must complete a second major in a School of Arts & Sciences discipline. For more information on licensure, visit our Office of Licensure & Field Placement.
