Professional Biography

Julie Kiernan received her master of fine arts degree from the University of California, Irvine. Her thesis revolved around the pedagogy of acting training. While working as a professional actress in Los Angeles she continued her research and interest in education by teaching for the Los Angeles County School District. Transitioning back into higher education she worked at Soka University of America in Aliso Viejo, California, prior to coming to Salem State. One of her current research interests is education as “value-creation,” where education is evaluated by its ability to stimulate and awaken human potential.
