Dr. Kaplowitch earned her Ph.D in Counseling Psychology from Northeastern University in 2000. She earned an MA in Psychology and an M. Ed in Counseling Psychology from Columbia University in 1994. She earned an BA in Psychology and Education from Clark Univerity in 1992. She completed her Massachusetts Teacher certification, elementary level, NTE, in 1992. She was the winner of the Lori Fabricant Memorial Scholarship in 1988.
I am trained in Counseling Psychology. My areas of interest have focused on examining the impact of contextual variables on the etiology of symptoms. Research areas have included examining the role of gender variables and clinician background when diagnosing anorexia nervosa in boys and men. Other areas of interest include understanding and treating trauma experienced by vicitms of gang rape. Clinical work has included treating the chronically mentally ill, treating the dually diagnosed and working in college counseling centers.
I teach in the Graduate Department every semester. I serve on the Board of Directors of several local organizations.
