Professional Biography
Kanishkan Sathasivam received his Ph.D. in Political Science from Texas A&M University in 2000. He also has an M.S. degree (1991) from the University of Tennessee and a B.S. degree (1989) from Saint Louis University, both of these in Aerospace Engineering. He came to the United States from Sri Lanka in 1986 to pursue his postsecondary education. He is currently an associate professor of Political Science and department chair at Salem State College in Salem, MA, where he teaches numerous courses in international and comparative politics with a particular focus on international security and foreign policy analysis. His research interests include the enduring rivalry between India and Pakistan, security and conflict in the Middle East and Central Asia, the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, and geopolitics among the great powers of the world. His recent publications include a monograph titled Uneasy Neighbors: India, Pakistan and US Foreign Policy (2005).
