Welcome!
Welcome to the School of Education at Salem State University, where we proudly continue the university's 150-plus-year history as a respected preparer of educators, and as a resource for the continuing education of established education professionals. Our goal is to develop educators who are intellectual, ethical and pedagogical leaders who can work within a collaborative educational community and who are committed to serving the diverse needs of learners of all ages.
The School of Education offers more than two dozen programs across the undergraduate and graduate levels. We cover all areas of curriculum and in a variety of community settings. Our programs guide you through the preparation for state teaching licenses, or, if you prefer, preparation for working as educators in community centers or organizations.
Our licensure programs are approved by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (MDESE), and nationally recognized and accredited by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).
