Professional Biography

Dr. Monica Leisey, a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University, is an assistant professor in the Salem State University (SSU) School of Social Work and the in-coming MSW Program coordinator.  Her areas of scholarship include the pedagogy of social work and social work leadership.  Dr. Leisey has received internal and external funding including an NIH post-doctoral fellowship.  She currently serves on the SSU President's Advisory Committee on Diversity, Affirmative Action, Equity and Social Justice, the Graduate Education Council and is the chair of the Student Education Review Committee.  Recently Dr. Leisey was sponsored to attend the HERS Bryn Mawr Summer Institute by the Council on Social Work Education and Salem State University.
