Salem State Alum Named Teacher of the Year
Jeff Chruniak '08, a third grade teacher at the North Beverly, Mass., Elementary School, was recently named Teacher of the Year by the Beverly Rotary Club. As reported recently in the Salem News, Jeff's interest in teaching began when he took a child development class at Beverly High School.
On campus, his early success comes as no surprise to those who worked with him. "I loved having him as a student and I knew he would go on to become a fabulous teacher," said Julie Smith-Fleming, his student teaching supervisor.
"This is great news! Jeff is terrific. He has a great reputation," said associate dean of education Mary-Lou Breitborde. She added he will be presenting at Salem State's annual Best Practices in Education Conference on Central Campus on November 5, 2011. His presentation will focus on the use of SMART boards across the elementary curriculum.
