Licensure
Professional License Examination
Eligibility to take the nursing licensure examination also requires compliance with the "good moral character" licensure requirement established by Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 112, Section 74 (Board of Registration Policy 00-01). This includes evaluation by the Board of Registration in Nursing of all misdemeanor and felony convictions, and discipline by a licensure/certification body. Individuals convicted of certain crimes are permanently excluded from nurse licensure in Massachusetts. Applicants are advised to contact the Board of Registration for further clarification.

Clinical Experience
All students enrolled in Salem State's nursing program are required to complete a clinical practicum in each of the following areas:
- Fundamentals
- Adult Health
- Critical Care
- Mental Health
- Pediatrics
- Public Health
- Rehabilitation
- Women's Health
Nursing majors should be prepared to provide their own transportation to their clinical agencies. Prior to beginning clinical assignments, students are required to complete a CORI (Criminal Offenders Record Information) check, be CPR certified and maintain that certification throughout their program.
