Annual Student Conference
The occupational therapy department at Salem State University hosts the 13th Annual Student Research Conference on March 19, 2016 at the Holiday Inn, 1 Newbury St. (Route 1N), Peabody, MA.
Our occupational therapy students plan the conference as a part of their studies and, in the process, learn to:
- Obtain a keynote speaker
- Procure vendors
- Determine food and media needs
- Create a brochure
- Develop a website
- Organize the conference structure
- Develop and disseminate participant surveys
Students also present their research results as part of the conference. Occupational therapy practitioners, ancillary health service personnel, faculty members, and students from several local occupational therapy programs attend this exciting annual event.
Adrianne Haslet-Davis- In April 2013, professional ballroom dancer Adrianne Haslet-Davis survived the horrific attack on the Boston Marathon, where she lost her left leg below the knee. It took 3.5 seconds for the blast to rob her of her leg, but within months of the attack, she learned how to dance on a generic prosthetic, inspiring millions of amputees and occupational therapists that even given the most simple of circumstances they too can achieve greatness
