Title Differentiating Instruction for English Language Learners

This course provides examination of the issues and approaches used in the education of diverse PK - 12 English language learners (ELLs) with a variety of special needs. Students will learn the methods and approaches used to assess, evaluate, and determine eligibility for placement of ELLS in special education programs. Students will design curriculum that differentiates instruction for ELLS with special needs and discuss ways of communicating with their parents and advocating on the behalf. Prerequisites: ENG 770N or EDU 791N - Theories and Principles in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages and ENG or EDU 792 - Methods and Approaches in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages.
