|Title||Methods and Approaches in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages|
This course examines current methods and approaches that best allow for the development of language in English language learners in grades PK-12. Teaching language through content, sheltered English immersion, differentiating instruction, the use of technology to enhance language learning, and the devlopment of academic language and vocabulary are emphasized. Students will design and implement contextualized lessons and prepare and present an original content-based unit plan. 15 hour pre-practicum hours are required. Prerequisite: ENG 770N or EDU 791N - Theories and Principles in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages.
