Message from the Interim Associate Dean

Welcome to the School of Education at Salem State, where we proudly continue the university's 160-year history as a respected preparer of educators, and as a resource for the continuing education of established education professionals.

The School of Education offers more than two dozen programs across the undergraduate and graduate levels. We cover all areas of curriculum and in a variety of community settings. Our programs guide you through the preparation for state teaching licenses, or, if you prefer, preparation for working as educators in community centers or organizations. Our licensure programs are approved by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (MDESE), and nationally recognized and accredited by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).

Teaching is a rewarding profession; whether in a community center or a museum; a classroom or a conference room. You have the opportunity to change lives and have your life changed as a result. Our alumni as well as our current students tell us how much they enjoy what they have learned here and how much they enjoy their work.

As interim associate dean I am delighted to welcome you and answer any questions you might have about our programs.
