Professional Biography

1989 - Present:Visiting Assistant Professor SALEM STATE COLLEGE, Salem, MA Teach courses in World Civilization and United States History utilizing both a lecture and collaborative teaching approach. Introduce students to computer use for educational purposes. Other responsibilities include formulation and presentation of course material as well as counseling and evaluating students. 1999 - Present: Adjunct Professor NORTHERN ESSEX COMMUNITY COLLEGE, Haverhill, MA Teach survey courses in World/Western Civilization and United States history, U.S. Civil War, and Recent U.S. history utilizing both a lecture and collaborative teaching approach. Have also developed and taught online courses as part of the college's Distance Learning Program. Classes consist of traditional, adult, academically disadvantaged, and ESL (English Second Language) learners. Responsibilities include course preparation as well as student evaluation. All course work entails both objective and subjective examinations and a term paper in which extensive research and writing is required as part of the college's Student Learning Outcomes.

Professional Interests

Area of specialization consists of pre-Civil War (Early Republic) U.S. History and Civil War. In addition, I am strongly interested in the development on On-Line/Distance Learning courses.

Personal Interests

My personal intersest includes travel with my family, recreational reading, lots of golf playing, and enjoying the Red Sox (all 162 games and playoffs) and Pats.
