Description
A literature course focusing on the specialized experience of travel as it is expressed in a variety of literary texts. Attention will be given to analyzing the conventions of travel writing and to identifying those aspects of this writing that qualify it as ""literary"". Readings will include prose selections from the long history of literary travel writing, various poems, and representative modern travel writers. Not open to students who have received credit for ENG353.
