Deborah Mason-McCaffrey graduated from Cornell University with a PhD in theoretical and applied mechanics. She is the secondary education coordinator for chemistry and physics. Prior to teaching at Salem State, she worked as an engineer in product development and as a department manager at Polaroid Corporation, followed by several years as a consultant and trainer. Dr. Mason-McCaffrey’s interest is in understanding the link between mathematics preparation and students’ conceptual gains in introductory physics. This spring she is teaching lecture and lab sections for PHS 222-General Physics II with Calculus and for PHS 312-Modern Physics.
