This course is intended as one half of a two-semester sequence with BIO121, or 123 or 124. Basic biological principles common to all living things are emphasized. Topics include basic chemistry, cell form and function, respiration, photosynthesis, principles of Mendelian and molecular genetics, the origin of life, and principles of evolution. Three lecture hours and one two-hour laboratory per week. Not open to students who have completed BIO101 or BIO103, or BIO105, or BIO107H, or BIO116H, or BIO 132.
