Apply for English Program
To apply for Salem State College Intensive English Program you need to:
- Download and fill out the English Program Application.
- $40 in check or money order, payable to 'Salem State College'
For International Student Applicants only
In addition to the application form and the certification of finances, the $40 application fee, you also need:
Financial Documents: In order to obtain the I-20 form from Salem State College, international student applicants must prove that they have enough money to cover their tuition, housing and other related expenses while studying in the U.S..
With this I-20 form they can apply for an F-1 student visa from the U.S. government.
Examples of financial documents are bank statements (checking and/or saving accounts) and/or tax returns.
If the financial documents are not all in the prospective student's own name, a letter from his/her family and/or sponsor is necessary. The letter must show that the family and/or sponsor will be responsible for the student's expenses in the U.S.
The Certification of Finances form on the second page of the Application Form may be used instead of a sponsor letter.

Application time-guideline: In order to give you and us enough time to process your application and to get your Visa, we should receive your complete application approximately 8 weeks before the program begins.
If accepted, you will receive your I-20 form from Salem State College, and you will need to apply for the F-1 student visa.
Please take these following documents/forms to the Visa interview:
- Form I-20
- SEVIS fee receipt: Form I-901 can be filled out and paid online at http://www.fmjfee.com. Print the receipt and bring it with you to the U.S. Embassy
- Pay all other required fees
- Letter of acceptance from Salem State College
- Financial Documents
- Letter from family and/or sponsor if applicable
- Documents which demonstrate your intent to return home
