Working with the regional and global Salem State community, academic advising’s mission is to provide the foundation for informed academic decision-making by educating, advocating, encouraging, assisting, and empowering a diverse undergraduate student population, as it relates to successful academic outcomes.
Academic advising is the foundation upon which a student develops his or her academic program. Through academic advising, students identify and explore the educational opportunities available at Salem State. Meeting regularly with an advisor, students plan their programs, complete degree requirements and benefit from a mentor/mentee relationship with a member of the faculty or the academic advising center professional staff.
