Planning for a pandemic flu at Salem State
A team of representatives from across campus has been actively planning to anticipate and be as prepared as possible for pandemic flu (H1N1) and its impact on the Salem State community. As our students, faculty and staff prepare for the upcoming academic year, we want to emphasize the importance of staying informed.
To that end, a special section of the college's Web site--salemstate.edu/flu--will be updated on a regular basis with the most current information about the current H1N1 "swine" influenza, the most effective means of prevention, and preparations for specific pandemic flu response procedures along with resources and other helpful information. We are guided by the latest recommendations of our state and local public health officials (mass.gov/dph/swineflu) as well as the United States Center for Disease Control (cdc.gov/h1n1flu).
In preparing for this season's wave of influenza, which will likely include regular seasonal flu and the H1N1, it is important that all members of our community take responsibility for their own health by practicing good personal hygiene and utilize health care resources in a prudent and timely manner.
