Budget

The budget office at Salem State University contributes to the mission of the university and that of the financial services department by assisting in the development of the university's budget as both a planning tool and as a control mechanism, by supporting all budget users as they develop an understanding of the power of the budget as a planning tool, by providing timely reports and guidance in the interpretation of those reports, and by making long-term projections of budgetary needs and opportunities. Budget also assists with budgetary adjustments and transfers, with guidance on managerial accounting and with input on changes in the chart of accounts to facilitate better management.

 

Learn about the University’s Fiscal Year 2011-12 Budget

Two campus forums were held to provide information about the university’s general operations budget and an overview of the outlook for fiscal year 2011-12, which begins on July 1.  Vice President for Finance & Facilities Andrew Soll led the sessions and presented slides with information about where the university gets its operating funds, how it spends them, what factors impact the allocation of funds and the prospects for next year.  The materials presented at these sessions are available here.  Annotations have been provided to explain the significance of each slide.  Updates to this information will be provided as the budget process continues to unfold.  Please check the Weekly Digest issued by Marketing & Communications for notices of updates.  Questions and comments should be sent to the Budget Office or Vice President Soll.
