About Us
Regional and local research is performed on a variety of scales and for multiple purposes. The center supports efforts and houses data critical for research in many areas including:
- Sustainable development
- Local economic development
- Regional issues (such as transportation, safety, education, agriculture, tourism, healthy communities)
- Resource issues
- Spatial database analysis and design
- Business sustainability
- Community sustainability
- Employment sustainability
- Government and sustainability
- Geographic education
- Information systems analysis, design and implementation
- Geoscience research and development
- Cultural sustainability
- Tourism research
- Healthy communities
Research will also take many forms:
- Community-based projects
- Civic engagement
- Grants awarded research for faculty and/or graduate students
- Other funded research (private sources and potential income generator)
- Unfunded academic research

Lorri Krebs, Ph.D. with consulting and research focus on econometrics, economic development and tourism initiatives. lkrebs@salemstate.edu
Bill Hamilton, Ph.D. with focus on advanced analytics, GIS, modeling and workshop development. whamilton@salemstate.edu
Elizabeth Duclos-Orsello, Ph.D. will lead projects in the areas of sustainability and the humanities, and the development of community-based initiatives and civic engagement. educlosorsello@salemstate.edu
