Shuttle Services

SSC Shuttle Bus

 

 

 

 

 

Below are the shuttle bus routes for the 2011-2012 academic year:

 

6:30-8:30 am - All Stops
2:30-4:30 pm - All stops

Below is the designated times and routes the shuttles will run:

8:30 am - 2:30 pm: Bus#1 Central Campus to North Campus Loop

Between the hours 8:30 am-2:30 pm, Monday - Friday, Bus 1 will travel Central Campus to Loring Avenue to Horace Mann School (stop) to Lafayette Street Meier Hall (stop) to College Drive (stop) to Loring to Rear Entrance Central Campus Bookstore (stop) to Building 1 (stop).

8:30 am - 2:30 pm: Bus#2 Central Campus to O'Keefe Center to South Campus Loop

Between the hours 8:30 am-2:30 pm, Monday-Friday, Bus 2 will travel Central Campus to Loring Avenue to Broadway to Canal (stop) to Broadway Extension to Broadway to Loring to Harrison Road to Bates Commons (stop) to Harrington Building (stop) to Harrison Road to Loring to Rear Entrance Central Campus to Bookstore (stop) to Building 1 (stop).

The Train Depot shuttle will leave the Campus Police Station on Central Campus at 7 a.m. Monday-Friday and operate continuously until ending its route at the Campus Police Station at 9 a.m. It will provide the same service each afternoon, Monday-Friday, leaving the Campus Police Station on Central Campus at 3 p.m. and operating continuously until ending its route at the Campus Police Station at 5 p.m.”

 

Evening Hours: Monday - Friday until 7:30 pm. No Shuttle Bus Service on Saturday and Sunday.

 Wednesday           6:30 am - 7:30 pm
 Thursday              6:30 am - 7:30 pm
 Friday                  6:30 am - 7:30 pm
 Saturday   No service

 

Bus # 1  6:30 am start   Break   9:00 am to 9:15 am     Lunch  12:00 pm to 12:30 pm

Bus # 2  7:00 am start    Break   9:30 am to 9:45 am    Lunch  12:45 pm to 1:15 pm

Bus # 3  8:30 am start    Break 10:15 am to 10:30 am   Lunch    1:30 pm to 2:00 pm

Bus # 4  9:00 am start   This bus has no break service

Depending on traffic and weather conditions, the average time for a complete run takes 20-30 minutes. 

Additional stops are not permitted. 

For the safety and comfort of all persons, there is no eating, smoking or consumption of beverages on the shuttle. All shuttle drivers possess commercial drivers licenses as required by the Department of Transportation.

* School closing due to weather conditions, one bus only unless otherwise notified.

*Every effort will be made to ensure uninterrupted service, however, unforeseen mechanical problems, traffic and weather may affect the availability and times of the shuttle bus run.

7:30 pm-1 am (Off Campus Route Only)

1 pm-1 am (Off Campus Route Only)

 

“On Campus” Shuttle stops: Meier Hall, Peabody Hall, Bates Complex, Harrington Building, O'Keefe Center, Broadway Street Lot, Marsh Hall, Horace Mann School.

* Depending on traffic and weather conditions, the average time for a complete “On Campus” run takes 20-30 minutes.

“Off Campus” Shuttle stops: Campus Police Station, North Shore Mall, Liberty Tree Mall, Salem Train Depot, Washington and New Derby St-Salem, Salem Ferry.

* Depending on traffic and weather conditions, the average time for a complete “Off Campus” run takes 45-60 minutes.

*Additional stops are not permitted.

* Obnoxious and / or disorderly behavior will not be tolerated on the shuttle.

Escort Service:

The Salem State Campus Police provides a personal safety escort service which is available to all members of the Salem State community. 

Occasionally, situations may arise where the Salem State Campus Police are unable to respond immediately to your request. The dispatcher will advise at the time of your call of any expected delays. If your escort has not arrived after a reasonable time, please all again. 

When you request an escort, please provide the dispatcher with your name and exact location.

The Salem State Campus Police department is committed to the goals of providing a safe, efficient and courteous escort service. Therefore, certain restrictions must be placed on this service. The escort service is not designed to:

*Provide transportation to/from places of employment, restaurants, taverns, airports, mass-transit, etc.

*Provide transportation for large groups or persons intoxicated or otherwise exhibiting obnoxious behavior.

If the Salem State Campus Police are unable to provide an escort for any reason, a telephone will be made available to you to arrange for alternative transportation, such as a taxi.
