Shuttle Services

Starting on January 14, 2013 the student shuttle service will add service to Vinnin Square in response to request made by students.
Mon through Friday – 7:30 pm and 9:30 pm (Also when called/ requested)
Saturday and Sunday – 3 pm, 5 pm, 7 pm, and 9pm (Also when called/ requested)
Pick up and drop off will occur at the Walgreens at Vinnin Square
The following are the shuttle bus routes for the 2012-2013 academic year:
Student Run Shuttle (12 passenger vans)
Monday through Thursday: on campus route 7 pm – 1 am
(Tavern in the Square and train depot stops by request only
Salem State student run shuttle train station "DEPOT" Schedule
Mondays thru Fridays (Holidays are excluded)
7 am-9 am
3 pm to 3:05 pm DEPART CENTRAL CAMPUS BUS STOP
3:35 pm to 3:40 pm DEPART CENTRAL CAMPUS BUS STOP
4:10 pm to 4:15 pm DEPART CENTRAL CAMPUS BUS STOP

Off campus route: 7 pm – 1 am
Salem Depot: 7 – 9 am and 3 – 5 pm

Off campus route only: 1 pm – 1 am

On campus route shuttle stops: Central Campus, Horace Mann School, Meier Hall, Peabody Hall, O’Keefe Center-Canal Street, Broadway behind McDonalds at Parking Lots, Bates Complex, and Harrington Building.
Off campus route shuttle stops: North Shore Mall, Liberty Tree Mall, Salem Train Depot, Washington and New Derby Streets-Salem, and the Salem Ferry.
Train depot shuttle: This shuttle will leave the Salem State University police department on Central Campus at 7 am, Monday through Friday and operate continuously until ending its route at the university police station at 9 am. It will provide the same service each afternoon, leaving the university police station on Central Campus at 3 pm, Monday through Friday and operate continuously until ending its route at the university police station at 5 pm.

Sat. and Sun – 3 pm, 5 pm, 7 pm and 9 pm (Also when called/ requested)
Pick up and drop off will occur at the Walgreens at Vinnin Square.
Depending on traffic and weather conditions, the average time for a complete on campus run takes 20-30 minutes, depending on traffic and weather conditions.

Escort Service:
The Salem State University police department provides a personal safety escort service which is available to all members of the Salem State community.
Occasionally, situations may arise where the university police are unable to respond immediately to your request. The dispatcher will advise at the time of your call of any expected delays. If your escort has not arrived after a reasonable time, please all again.
When you request an escort, please provide the dispatcher with your name and exact location.
The Salem State University police department is committed to the goals of providing a safe, efficient and courteous escort service. Therefore, certain restrictions must be placed on this service. The escort service is not designed to:
*Provide transportation to/from places of employment, restaurants, taverns, airports, mass-transit, etc.
*Provide transportation for large groups or persons intoxicated or otherwise exhibiting obnoxious behavior.
If the Salem State campus police are unable to provide an escort for any reason, a telephone will be made available to you to arrange for alternative transportation, such as a taxi.
