Salem Geographical Society
The Salem Geographical Society (SGS) is open to all students of Salem State College. Its purpose is to bring the people of the world together in an effort to share and learn from each other the different beliefs, views and cultures of the world. We do this through exploration of the many cultural and regional aspects within our reach. We welcome you to join us! It's FREE! It takes very little time and you get to have fun while learning more about our world.
About Us
The SGS is a club that concerns the involvement of Geography in a broad variety of events both informative and entertaining. Some examples of these events would be physical activities such as rock climbing or educational events like the NESTVAL conference. The SGS plans, attends, and sponsors events. Our mission is to plan these activities with respect to the 5 themes of modern geography. Some of the plans for upcoming events include Omni Theater trips, winter weekend activities, Geography luncheons, and educating children in Geography.
Who's involved?
The SGS is not limited to just Geography majors. We have many other majors involved like education and geology majors. As a matter of fact, SGS encourages different majors to help provide different perspectives and viewpoints. We believe that there is some Geography in every discipline.
Why should you join?
Your opinions and views are very important to us. The SGS has been strengthened by the involvement of students from a variety of disciplines.
