About Us

Marc Boots-Ebenfield

Marc brings a breadth of experience to directing the CTI and consulting with faculty on new instructional techniques and technologies. With a PhD in applied Russian linguistics he has taught Russian Language, literature, linguistics, and language pedagogy courses for over 15 years in higher education. Marc has directed language learning centers, new media centers, headed instructional technology services, and worked as the lead instructional technologist at the Bristol Myers-Squibb Center for Science Teaching and Learning. In additional to classroom instruction Marc has constructed and facilitated online learning communities for math and science teachers k-12, set up online courses for higher-education faculty and taught hybrid and online courses to graduate and undergraduate students. 

Derek A. Barr

With an encyclopedic knowledge of instructional media and instructional technologies, Derek Barr assists faculty with almost any technology, digital or analog, from phonographs to Skype. Derek provides assistance with capturing classroom sessions for use online, digitizing video, and multimedia projects for hybrid and online courses. With almost 20 years at SSU, Derek can get your teaching innovation project on the right track quickly.
