AHANA Services

AHANA works closely with faculty and staff to develop and enhance multicultural competence, support student groups and clubs, coordinate diversity, multicultural, equity and social justice seminars for faculty, staff and students and to sponsor several annual events.

Other services include:

  • Assisting organized student groups of color by serving as secondary advisor; providing support services, training and resources; creating a multicultural student council; mediating disputes 
  • Assisting admissions and student academic support services in recruiting students of color 
  • Assisting student life departments to include diversity initiatives in programmatic efforts 
  • Assisting administrative and academic departments in the resolution of issues related to students of color 
  • Serving on committees as assigned by the president; co-chairing the president's advisory task force on minority diversity issues 
  • Collaborating with faculty, staff and students to provide multicultural awareness 
  • Collaborating with human resources to ensure the recruitment, hiring and retention of faculty and staff of color
  • Providing a supportive environment for faculty, staff and administrators of color and encourage staff development opportunities 
  • Educating students of color on financial responsibilities in regards to paying for college tuition
