Prescription Drug Benefits

Prescription Drug Benefits are available under all the Group Insurance Health Plans.  Every plan tiers their drugs (tier 1 - generic, tier 2 - preferred brand name and tier 3 - non-preferred brand name) and can have a different drug formulary which can change each year.  You will save money by using mail order prescription companies for any drugs that you or your family members take on an ongoing basis.  To find out how the drugs you current take are “tiered” call your mail order plan for your particular health care provider or call the plan directly where indicated:

*Some GIC plans,  including the UniCare State Indemnity plans and the Tufts Navigator Plan will require that if a generic drug is available that you will be responsible for paying the cost difference between the brand name drug an the generic, plus the generic co-pay. 

All plans have a three-tier co-payment structure in which your co-payments vary depending on the drug dispensed.  Additional information on drug plans can be found at the following Link: Prescription Drugs.
