How Do I Become a Member?

Membership to the Wellness Center is limited to Salem State students, employees, and alumni. All prospective members need to fill out a  Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PAR-Q) prior to admittance. The PAR-Q is designed to gather both demographic information and your health history. In certain circumstances, we may ask for medical clearance from your physician before you may use the Wellness Center. The safety of our members is always our first priority.

In addition to the PAR-Q, all members are introduced to the Wellness Center through a Program Orientation. The Program Orientation is a 30 - 45 minute appointment with one of our exercise technicians. You will have the opportunity to learn more about the programs and services we offer during the orientation as well as review the rules and standard procedures. In addition, your exercise technician will demonstrate the proper use of some of our equipment and help you to understand the benefits of various types of exercise.
