Alpha Lambda Delta Crest

Alpha Lambda Delta is a national honor society for first year students. Its mission is to "encourage superior academic promote intelligent living and a continued high standard of learning, and to assist students in recognizing and developing meaningful goals for their unique roles in society." 

In order to be inducted into the honor society, students must have a 3.5 or higher GPA (on a 4.0-point scale), or the equivalent, and must be in the top 20 percent of their class during the first semester at Salem State University. In spring 2013 and spring 2014, more than 33 percent of the first year class achieved a 3.5 GPA or higher, making the Alpha Lambda Delta qualification process extremely competitive.

On campus, Alpha Lambda Delta is involved in community service and civic engagement projects, leadership development training and provides opportunities for students to apply for scholarships. Student inducted into the honor society receive a pin, membership certificate and honor cords to wear at commencement. Membership in Alpha Lambda Delta is for life and includes being part of an organization with nearly one million members nationwide. For more information, contact the chapter advisor.


Congratulations to the Salem State chapter for receiving a National Delta Silver Award for 2015. The Delta Silver Award recognizes the top chapters in the nation who have increased their membership by a certain percentage.

Congratulations to Mathew Chetnik, Alpha Lambda Delta advisor, who was named one of only four "Outstanding Advisors" in the nation by the National Alpha Lambda Delta organization this past year.
