The ITS team maintains a policy of protecting our network, computers and data and we always encourage you not to be fooled by online and email scams. As hackers and scammers continue their pursuit, a strong password is an important protection to help you have safer online transactions.
Updating your password to establish some complexity - including length and character categories - make passwords more difficult for attackers to determine. Establishing strong password policies can help prevent attackers from impersonating users and can thereby help prevent the loss, exposure, or corruption of sensitive information.
To change your password, log into your Navigator account and click on the Employee Home tab, then on Reset Network password. One way to make your new password complex is by substituting one character for another, like an “$” for the letter S or a “1” for an l. An example might be $alem$tate1stheBe$t.
At the same time, if you have email on your mobile device, you will need to update your password on the device immediately. If you have a Salem State laptop, you should connect to the Salem State network and log on to your computer with the new password you just reset, this will update your laptop logon password.
Passwords must be between 8 and 32 characters long
Passwords must contain alphanumeric characters and special characters such as:
Passwords must contain at least one number
Passwords must contain at least upper case letter
