On October 16, Salem State College held a black-tie Sesquicentennial Gala at the Sheraton Ferncroft in Danvers. The event, attended by 500 alumni, staff, friends and corporate associates of the College, marked the close of a yearlong celebration of the College's 150th anniversary. Throughtout the past year, $1 million was raised in private donations to build a Center for the Creative and Performing Arts on Central Campus. The College hopes to raise an additional $150,000 by the end of the year as part of a challenge issued by Karen and Gerry Morrissey and Rocky and Janet Salem.
