Welcome to Salem State!

Congratulations on your acceptance to Salem State University! We are glad that you have chosen to be part of our community. Below is information on what to do next! More information is available in our New Student Packet (PDF).

Log in to Navigator 
- If you have not yet logged into your student account you should do so right away. Navigator is your personal Salem State homepage and allows you access to many of the Web-based resources. To log into Navigator for the first time: go to and follow the “What’s My User ID?” and “What’s My Password?” links to retrieve your login information.

Submit your $250 non-refundable enrollment deposit and your $300 housing deposit (if you are living on campus) 
online at by May 1, 2016. By depositing you can secure your enrollment and confirm a spot in our residential halls. All day and transfer students must pay enrollment deposit in order to register for orientation. View instructions on submitting a deposit online (PDF).

Join us for Accepted Students Day
 - Saturday, April 2 or Sunday, April 10. Attend the campus information fair, meet current students, visit with faculty, and take a campus tour. Register at An enrollment deposit is not required to attend.

Register for Summer Orientation
 - All first-year and transfer students are required to attend an orientation program in June or August. Orientation is your chance to learn about the university, ask questions, register for classes, get to know your fellow classmates, and begin your adventure as a new student! Apply for Financial Aid
 - If you are planning to apply for financial aid for the fall semester, you will need to submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Apply online at; Salem State University’s code is 002188. If you are transferring from another institution, please add the school code for Salem State University to your FAFSA.

Enroll in or waive student health insurance. 
Under Massachusetts state law, comprehensive health insurance is required for all students registered for nine or more credits. Learn more at

Move-in policy; required items before you can move in to the residence hall (1+2=ROOM KEY):

1. Pay your balance in full, or be on an approved payment plan and/or have sufficient financial aid to cover your balance (includes completing all aid related items on your To Do List in your Navigator account).

2. Submit a fully completed health form to Counseling and Health Services. Access the requirements and forms at Make sure the documentation has been received by checking the student health portal at
