Information for New Students
Welcome to Salem State!
Congratulations on your acceptance to Salem State University! We are glad that you have chosen to be part of our community. The information that you will need to successfully transition to Salem State University is listed below.
Navigator - If you have not yet logged into your student account you should do so right away. Navigator is your personal Salem State homepage and allows you access to many of the Web-based resources. To log into Navigator for the first time: go to navigator.salemstate.edu and follow the “What’s My User ID?” and “What’s My Password?” links to retrieve your login information.
Deposit - By depositing now you can secure your seat in class and save a spot for you in our residential halls. All day and transfer students must deposit in order to register for orientation. Students can submit their deposits logging into their Navigator account or sending in the yellow envelope that came with your acceptance packet.
Orientation - All first-year and transfer students are required to attend an orientation program. Orientation is your chance to learn about the university, ask questions, register for classes, get to know your fellow classmates, and begin your adventure as a new student! For more information visit salemstate/orientation. Go to your Navigator account to register for a session. Remember that you will register for your fall classes at orientation.
Financial Aid - If you are planning to apply for financial aid for the fall semester, you will need to submit the 2013-2014 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as possible. Apply online at fafsa.ed.gov; Salem State University’s code is 002188. If you are transferring from another institution, please add the school code for Salem State University to your FAFSA.
Housing - If you have paid your housing deposit on time, you will be sent a housing packet. A residence life license agreement will be included and must be completed and returned to residence life by the date specified in the letter. Housing is guaranteed for three consecutive years as long as you continuously live on campus and pay future housing deposits by the specified deadlines.
Important! Accepted Students Health Information and Insurance
All accepted students must submit immunization and health information, and waive or accept health insurance, before the semester starts.
