Report to the Teaching and Learning with Technology Roundtable

Summer 2002

Project: Assessing StudentsŐ Experiences with Blackboard.com

Summary: A survey was developed in order to assess Salem State College studentsŐ experiences with Blackboard.com. It is necessary for us to gather information on how students respond to blackboard.com in order to understand how the technology may best be used for teaching and learning. The survey consists of questions on the technical aspects of accessing blackboard.com (i.e., speed of modem, use of lab vs. home use, etc.) as well as questions on satisfaction with the blackboard.com method of delivering course materials. General demographic information (i.e., age, major, etc.) will also be collected.

While participating in the Summer 2002 Faculty Instructional Technology Workshop I developed questions for the survey and also corresponded with Gail Rankin of Information Technology in order to arrange to administer this survey to students enrolled in Blackboard.com courses for Fall 2002.
